The Whisky Library was launched 2009. The cosy bar area within Gray's Restaurant has been redesigned and renamed "The Whisky Library". Uisge Beatha, the Water of Life, is Scotland's national drink and it is synonymous with Scotland in our visitors' minds. It also perfectly complements our menu which is unashamedly based on all that is best with Scotland's produce.
As part of our involvement in VisitScotland's Year of Food and Drink we pushed on with our development of the Whisky Library. We have one of the largest collections in the area, featuring many rare and unusual types of malt as well as the more popular drams.
Our Collection: We went from 40 malts to over 140, added more books, and began our Annual Whisky Festival, in November of 2010, introduced some classic and hard-to-find bottled Scottish beers and encouraged our guests to try the fabulous wines from Perthshire's Cairn o'Mhor winery. All this to the backdrop of regular Scottish folk music live in the Library just for you.
Whisky Tastings: For the whisky novice or for those who just can't make up their mind. Try our Triple Whisky Tasting - three different drams at a discount price. Who says Scotsmen are mean!
Other Scot's Tipples: We also have a wide range of Scottish bottled ales available as well as Scottish gins, vodka and liquers if whisky isn't your poison.
Glengoyne Distillery is one of the local distilleries and has one of the leading premium malt whiskies in the world. This award winning distillery is located near Loch Lomond close to Glasgow and offers Tours, Masterclasses, Whisky Tastings, Meetings & Private Dining. If you cant make it in person, there is an on-line shop for Special Bottlings, Personalised Bottles & Collectables.
The Old Rectory is a traditional Inn offering traditional Scottish hospitality. If you are looking for a Whisky Break let us know and we create the right package for you.
