Sitting on the water’s edge in an isolated corner of Loch Katrine, The Old Smiddy on Loch Katrine is located in one of Scotland's most most peaceful areas with the most beautiful views.

The Old Smiddy Cottage has breathtaking views of Loch Katrine and the surrounding hills of Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi and Ben Venue. An ideal location from absorb one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas.

With views of the loch from every room. The Old Smiddy is beautifully decked in white oak flooring with a log burning fire. Whatever the weather, Guests love the cottage’s modern comforts, both indoors and outdoors. The cottage sleeps up to six people in 3 bedrooms (a travel cot and high chair are available on request).

Just bring yourselves and your supplies. The cottage comes fully equipped with Sky TV, DVD player, CD player and payphone. The kitchen equipment includes dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer, oven, hob and iron/ironing board.

Muddy Boots & Mucky paws welcome. Don't worry about leaving your loved ones behind as we welcome dogs and their owners (but with a few commonsense requests) e.g. they (the dogs) are not left alone in the house unsupervised, they use their own baskets to relax in and that if you do return with muddy paws & boots you clean them off outside. If you do plan to bring your pets please arrange this advance of your stay.

"No light pollution here": Our starry skies make this a perfect location for 'Star Gazing' and you can't help but feel rejuvenated by breathing in our clear unspoiled country air.

Worth visiting is the The Pier Cafe at the historic Stronachlachar Pier. Here you can enjoy homemade soups, cakes, scones & the finest coffees. The world famous steamship Sir Walter Scott has been cruising these waters for 100+ years. The Tea Rooms new waters edge conservatory on Loch Katrine allows you to relax with Free WiFi, newspapers, a glass of wine, comfy chairs & a wood burning stove... & of course that incredible view!
