Loch Achray is a small freshwater loch located just below Ben A'an on the A821 and it can be reached by taking the A821 from Callander via Brig O'Turk or from Aberfoyle over the Dukes Pass.

The loch lies between Loch Katrine and Loch Venacher in the heart of the Trossachs. Loch Achray is well known for its sheltered location. On a calm day you will be rewarded by wonderful reflection shots across the loch to Ben A'an to Tigh Mhor's Victorian Spires and the Trossachs church on the lochside which is a popular venue for weddings.

Achray is a popular fishing loch for brown trout. However, the loch also holds sea trout, perch, pike and salmon. Fishing Permits are available locally. Loch Achray is controlled by the Loch Achray Conservation Association. Only fly fishing from boats is permitted. If you are fishing on Loch Achray please leave your cars in the Fishing Lodge Car Park and fishing is only allowed from Conservation owned boats.

Many hills and mountains are situated around Loch Achray and offer great walking possibilities. Besides Ben A’an which is one of the smaller hills popular among visitors, there is Ben Venue to the west. Both, Ben A’an and Ben Venue offer fantastic views on Loch Achray and Loch Katrine. The Duke’s Pass from Aberfoyle and Callander from the other direction follows the shores of Loch Achray.

Loch Achray’s surroundings are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and for visitors who like to relax in one of the most beautiful places of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Also cycling and mountain biking are popular in the area. Nearby Loch Katrine is the Wheels Cycle Centre and you can also rent bicycles from Mounter Bikes in Callander.
