Situated south of Killearn, Glengoyne Distillery can be reached easily from Glasgow, Stirling or Edinburgh. This traditional, hard-working distillery has been flourishing since 1833.
The distillery is one of the best whisky distilleries worldwide and has received several awards such as the “Malt Maniacs Award“ in 2005 and 2006. Glengoyne’s 17 year old whisky is under the “Best of the Best” Highland Malt Whiskies according to the “Whisky Magazine”. The name “Glengoyne” derived from “Glen Guin” meaning Glen of the Wild Geese.
Unlike most other single malt whiskies, Glengoyne dries its barley using only warm air as opposed to the smoke from burning peat. This ensures that, instead of being overwhelmed, the other elements of Glengoyne Malt Whisky are allowed to express themselves more fully – the water, malted barley, the oak and of the cask, and the pure Glengoyne.
To fully experience the magic of Glengoyne, take advantage of one of our behind-the-scenes tours. Take in the processes, meet the experts, sample a dram, or even blend your own. Whatever your area of interest, we can tailor a tour exactly to your requirements.
The distillery is open all year round and pre-booking is only necessary for groups higher than 10 and for the Master Blender and Masterclass experience. Glengoyne tour is available for £6.75 per person.
